A Historic Event for Iranian Vegan Cuisine On International Chef’s Day, the Trade Association of Iranian Chefs and Cooks, in collaboration with the Vegan Commission of the Iran Organic Association, organized an exceptional competition. This time, not only 100 of the country’s top cooks and chefs entered the competition to showcase their skills, but also vegan chefs and those interested in vegan cooking from all over Iran were there. It was a remarkable opportunity to demonstrate the strength and diversity of Iranian vegan dishes at the restaurant and catering level. In this competition, judges and top chefs specializing in animal-people meat dishes tasted vegan dishes and were surprised by the variety of flavors and colors, since most of them believed that vegans only eat vegetables, salads, and fruits.
This initiative brought a fresh perspective within the professional community of Iranian chefs and cooks. Our vegan friends, with love and tireless effort, hope to register the Vegan Community officially in Iran, and they are navigating a challenging path to achieve this. This competition was not merely a contest… it was a loving message to the Earth, to life, and to mindful cooking. On International Chef’s Day, beside the tables of animal-people meat dishes, the tables of vegan dishes shone with the flavor of courage, creativity, and respect — and a prize was awarded to the first-place winner.

P.S. The great news is that thanks to the efforts of the Iranian vegan community, the Vegan Standard Law in Iran has finally been approved and is currently undergoing administrative steps for drafting Vegan Regulations to be issued to manufacturing companies. And, in supermarkets across the country, many products will have the vegan label.
