I have a tip on social etiquette if you need to cancel plans last minute due to urgent matters. To cancel without offending the other person, realize that the validity of any excuse is subjective and therefore may be interpreted differently by someone else. Make a phone call instead of texting, as it's more personal. Start with an apology to show respect for their time and explain your situation briefly. Offer to reschedule to show you still value the relationship and make a point not to cancel next time to maintain trust.
The guffaw company has sent us the following joke, so let’s see how it rolls. This one’s entitled “Rope Helper.”
Two cat-people are good friends. One day, the cat-lady accidentally fell into a large, deep hole. Her friend ran everywhere to find a way to get her out. Finally, he found a ball of rope. But, he pushed the whole ball down to her. The cat-lady was shocked.
“If you throw it all down like this, how are you going to pull me up?”
“Oh, sorry. What should I have done?”
“You should have held one end of the rope!”
Hearing this, the cat-guy immediately jumped into the hole. Then, standing next to the cat-lady, he dutifully held one end of the rope.

Dear Loving Master, First of all, I would like to send You my deepest gratitude for all the efforts that You are making for all sentient beings in the Universe, especially those on Earth. As a disciple, I often felt ashamed that I could not help You with anything, while You are facing a lot of hardships all alone. In our hometown, we can only try to do what we can to spread to everyone the best positivity from Your teachings and example. We are very happy that more and more people know about the Quan Yin Method and desire to receive initiation.
Besides, we also sometimes encounter obstacles from relatives and family that often hinder us. That makes us think of the hardship that You are enduring. How merciful You are! You silently endure injustices that You could not share with anyone! Each and every day, You have to cope with the invisible and visible power. Oftentimes, I asked myself, “Why You are so compassionate, why You are so great, like that...?!”
We are so fortunate to meet You, be protected and cared for by You, and get initiated by You to be liberated from the cycle of birth and death. We vow to be Your hands, Your eyes, to spread [Your teachings] to everyone around, so that more and more people will know the vegan lifestyle and the Quan Yin Method, so that they can get initiated and practice to go back to the Origin.
May You always be healthy, peaceful and all of Your missions be fulfilled, in the protection of all respected Heavens! I would like to send to You my poem.

I saw You in my dream last night
Your golden body sat on the lotus dais
Kindness spreading from Your gentle heart
I prostrated under the dais in tears.
My tears couldn’t stop falling down
Because of joy, emotion, happiness, O Lord!
