I would like to share a tip on how to extend the life of your cucumbers if you don’t eat them immediately. During the summer months, a cucumber stored in plastic wrap in the refrigerator gets mushy after a week. If you want to make sure your cucumbers last longer you should store them in an airtight plastic container after putting them in water with a small amount of bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) and patting them dry. The baking soda alkalizes the exterior surface of the skin and protects the cucumber from mold. You will notice that your cucumber will stay firm and fresh this way for at least a few weeks. Give it a try!
