Our first story features Willy, a Quaker parrot-person, whose verbal cues saved a human baby’s life. Megan gave Hannah some breakfast, walked away, and then heard Willy crying “Momma, baby!” Megan performed the Heimlich, saved Hannah’s life, but she says the real hero is actually Willy.

Thor Torgersen is one of the founders of a non-profit organization run out of a horse farm just over the Rhode Island border in Stonington, Connecticut. It’s aimed at assisting veterans who return home from the service troubled and broken. “The horse starts to, bring you down (calm) and break you down, it opens your heart.”

For her courageous acts, Roselle the guide dog-individual was honored with the American Humane Society Hero Dog of the Year in 2011 and many other accolades.
