It’s so extreme, what we are doing to nature and to the animals. We lose so much land. And not only ‘we’ – there are supposed to be wildlife there; the ecosystems should be there. And they are protecting us, but we are destroying everything that protects us.”“There is common knowledge that we are going in the wrong direction, but the will to change seems to be lacking. I was shocked when researching this book because the use of animals and how we treat them was so much worse than I believed, especially in slaughterhouses and factory farms. We must also know that in most factory farms and slaughterhouses, the laws are not followed.” Mr. Zografos explains that cruelty in the animal-people-raising industry affects not only the animal-people but also the humans who carry it out. “It’s similar to people who are in war, who repeatedly have traumas, who have to kill. In war it’s people, but in slaughterhouses it’s animals. But you get the same kind of traumas that will stay with you for the rest of your life.”
