Stephen Ritz began to teach at a South Bronx high school. In his classroom, a box of unassuming flowers unexpectedly transformed building tension amongst his students into laughter. This gave him an epiphany -- the solution to his school’s problems could be found in plants! Mr. Ritz altered his curriculum to integrate gardening in all learning.
